"I'm so tired of feeling this way, but I don't know how to feel better."
Maybe you're frozen by what-ifs, worn down by a past that keeps showing up, or running on empty even though you look fine on the outside.
Maybe you're more irritable, more shut down, or more distant from the people you love than you used to be, or you've been carrying something you've never said out loud.
None of that means something is wrong with you. It usually just means you've been managing alone for longer than you should have had to.
Counselling here is trauma-informed and attachment-based, so instead of a worksheet, we work through what's actually underneath it together, in real time. In-person in Kingston or virtual anywhere in Ontario. No waitlist, and I'd love to help.

Who Can Benefit From Therapy
Therapy tends to help most when you're ready to change how you feel and relate to others.
Clients I help most are those dealing with anxiety that won't let up, burnout, grief, low self-esteem, childhood trauma, PTSD, or ADHD, or people just feel stuck in patterns they can't quite name.
I offer trauma-informed, attachment-based counselling at my Kingston practice. As a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and as a queer, neurodivergent practitioner, I make sure LGBTQIA2S+ clients never have to wonder if this is a safe room.
With individuals, the work is relational and change happens mostly in the moment, not through homework or worksheets.
With couples, I offer premarital and relationship counselling for partners tired of the same arguments, silence, or distance, who want to communicate more openly and build something healthier.
There's no waitlist right now, and most people can get in within the week. Book a free, no-commitment consultation to see if we'd be a good fit.
Who Would You Be Working With?
Victoria Brassard-Monahan
Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)
Hi there! I'm glad you found me.
This might not be the first therapist's website you've been on this month, or this week, or even today!
While I cannot (and will not) promise you I'm better than those other therapists you're thinking of seeing, I can commit to doing my best to accompany you through whatever life has thrown your way.
Whether that's an experience you've never spoken about out loud, or anxiety that feels inescapable, I'd be honoured to support you through it.
A bit about my background
I hold an Honours BA in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, and I'm a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the CRPO (license #18930), practising under the supervision of Kim Lawrence, RSW. My approach draws on Emotionally Focused Therapy, narrative therapy, and parts work, all grounded in a humanistic, person-centred lens.

If my kind of support sounds good to you, you can book a first session below. If you're unsure, let's start with a free consultation.
What Working Together Actually Looks Like
People come to me carrying things they've never said out loud, or anxiety that feels impossible to switch off. My job is to help my clients make sense of their discomfort, so that together, we can find a better way forward.
A lot of my clients don't think of themselves as "anxious people" at first. They come in talking about irritability, resentment, exhaustion, or feeling disconnected from a partner who isn't showing up in the way they want them to, and they discover the anxiety underneath it along the way.
My style is grounded in Emotionally Focused Therapy, with narrative therapy and parts work woven in. I also receive regular clinical supervision from a practitioner with over a decade of experience, so you're never getting an untested approach.
Whatever you're carrying, there's a way through it, and I'd be glad to help you find it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer online counselling if I'm outside Kingston?
Yes. I see clients in-person at my Kingston office and virtually anywhere in Ontario, so you can work with me no matter where you're based in the province.
How long does it take to see results in therapy?
It really depends on what you're working through, but most clients start to notice meaningful shifts somewhere between 6 and 12 sessions. We'll check in around the six-week mark to see how things are going and adjust from there.
Do you take insurance?
I don't bill insurance companies directly, but I provide a receipt after every session that most insurance providers accept for Registered Psychotherapist services. It's worth checking with your provider ahead of time to confirm your coverage.
Is your practice LGBTQIA2S+ affirming?
Yes. I'm a queer therapist and I'm listed with the Rainbow Health Ontario directory. You shouldn't have to wonder whether your therapist gets it, so I try to make that clear from the start.
What will our first session be like?
Your first session is a chance to explain what brings you to therapy. Almost everybody gets nervous before their first session, so I'll do my best to support you by asking questions and offering patience when the right words are hard to come by.
We'll also review important practice policies about billing, attendance, confidentiality, and informed consent.
How long is each session?
Individual sessions last 60 minutes whereas couple's sessions last 60-90 minutes, depending on our pace.
What if I need to reschedule or cancel?
The easiest way to reschedule or cancel an appointment is to log into your Jane account (you can do that here!) and select "Upcoming Appointments". To reschedule or cancel, simply select the downward arrow beside the relevant appointment.
If you're seeing "Contact to cancel", it is now less than 24 hours before your session and cancelling or no-showing will result in a charge to your account equal to the session fee. If you need to reschedule or cancel at that point in time, an email or call is much appreciated.
