Frequently Asked Questions
It's natural to have questions before starting therapy, so I hope that this page can help answer most of them.
Feel free to reach out via email or phone in case you have others.
What will our first session be like?
During your first session, you'll get a chance to explain what brings you to therapy. Almost everybody gets nervous before their first session, so I'll do my best to support you by asking questions and offering patience when the right words are hard to come by.

We'll also review some important practice policies about billing, attendance, confidentiality, and informed consent.
How long is each session?
Individual sessions last 60 minutes whereas couple's sessions last 60-90 minutes depending on our typical pace.
What if I need to reschedule or cancel?
The easiest way to reschedule or cancel an appointment is to log into your Jane account (you can do that here!) and select "Upcoming Appointments". To reschedule or cancel, simply select the downward arrow beside the relevant appointment.

If you're seeing "Contact to cancel", it is now less than 24 hours before your session and cancelling or no-showing will result in a charge to your account equal to the session fee. If you need to reschedule or cancel at that point in time, an email or call is much appreciated.
Do you take insurance?
I do not bill directly to insurance companies, however, I do provide a receipt via email after each session that contains all of the information required by most insurance companies for reimbursement.

Please ask your insurance provider whether they reimburse for services by Registered Psychotherapists (Qualifying) before booking. While I wish I knew the ins and outs of everybody's unique insurance plans, that is unfortunately not a part of my skillset... maybe in another life!
